{"id":46,"date":"2021-02-09T19:07:45","date_gmt":"2021-02-09T19:07:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/physikidz.co.za\/wordpress\/?page_id=46"},"modified":"2021-02-09T19:07:45","modified_gmt":"2021-02-09T19:07:45","slug":"our-approach","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/physikidz.co.za\/index.php\/our-approach\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Approach"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2><strong>Assessment tools:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Developmental Milestones<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Developmental milestones are a general set of behaviors and skills that a baby\/ young child develops in certain age ranges.&nbsp; The use of developmental milestones in an assessment can guide a paediatric therapist or doctor to identify a child that may fall below or may be unable to achieve the appropriate milestones for their age range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All babies and children develop at a different pace, thus is it important to see developmental milestones as flexible, however a more severe developmental delay is an indication for therapeutic intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>BOT-2 Assessment Tool<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency \u2013 Second Edition (BOT-2) is a standardised assessment tool for a comprehensive evaluation of fine and gross motor skills. The BOT-2 can be used to assess children above the age of 4 years and the results are compared to age- and gender-based norms for gross and fine motor function.
